Adventures in Yogyakarta with Greenhost Boutique Hotel

After eating our way through Padang and seeing a few sights, we’ve finally come to the last leg of our trip: Yogyakarta and Bali. Exploring Jakarta, Indonesia

About a year ago, I was in Indonesia for #TripOfWonders with the Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia exploring LombokMakassarBanyuwangi, and Bandung. It was definitely one of the most memorable trips I had last year. I got to check out the Gili islands, try Es Pisang Ijo, see the sun rise at Kawah Ijen, and shop around Bandung! There were so many things I loved about that trip so imagine my excitement when I opened my email and saw a letter inviting me for another round this year!

Conquering Mount Ijen

Upon receiving our itinerary for the Indonesia trip, I immediately reviewed the places we were visiting. One of the activities listed was "Midnight Hike to Ijen". Obviously, I wasn't really excited about it because I'm not the type who enjoys hiking up (and down) a mountain. I can still remember my friend laughing at me when I told them we were hiking up a mountain. All my friend was able to say was "Good luck." -- pretty much what I needed.
